For storage requirement gathering, I would want to know what the capacity of your existing and new box is/will be, and any raid requirements. - Manny Antunes

The current implementation will be to replace a CX3-40 in a secondary DC. For now the only thing that will be on the disk is VMWare, SQL (Test / DR) and Exchange (Test / DR). By next year, we will want to add CIFS, replication, etc... as well as expand capacity. - Dave Treamer

You need a little more detail about how you will be using the storage, applications, etc. - Jan Polking

I was an IT Director for the past 12 years before joining Dell. The main reason I came was because of my experience with the Equallogic product before Dell bought them. I had used some other storage in the past and was amazed at how much easier EQL was. I have no problem explaining more about the product and explaining what I have learned about other storage platforms. Maybe this will help you decide on what is best for you.

I also can offer up some perfmon collection so you can see if you are a good candidate for fibre or if you can save a ton of $ and go with iSCSI. Do not discount this protocal. I am seeing huge benefits and performance from it.

Feel free to ask me any questions.
Yes I work at Dell but, I will help answer questions to better educate you on storage in general. - Scott Eveler
