Single point of failure

Early in the podcast, you talk about USP being a single point of failure. Any single array is a single point of failure without additional capabilities to replicate data. HP has created a couple of videos to demonstrate the high-availabilty of our product that we OEM from Hitachi Japan, the XP disk array. The XP recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary and the videos of HP shooting an XP and blowing one up are in this blog post: http://tinyurl.com/c9yken.

It's nice to hear that VMWare retracted a bit from the initial presentation of the "non compete" rules for VMWorld. Funny thing to me is that the consensus seems to be Microsoft was the "bad apple" because of the poker chips and whatever other "VMWare is too expensive" stuff they were shilling. I remember getting one of those chips and also summarily dismissing it. Of course compared to HyperV VMWare is expensive. Hyper V was also not an enterprise solution by any stretch of the imagination but Microsoft had to try. Anyone with any sense can look past their little stunt as just that with no real substance behind it. I would think they'd be more concerned about Citrix (and others like them) who had some really compelling demonstrations showing their products doing some very VMWare like things for less money.
