I consider the San Francisco Bay Area my permanent home. However, temporary relocation within the US or Canada, up to a quarter at time, and/or travel up to 25% is acceptable.
My ideal is a permanent, full-time role with an early-stage startup. Since this, combined with a need for my breadth and background, is extremely rare, I'm delighted with any opportunity where I can deliver all three of better, faster, and cheaper.
Working for a vendor, at least of the "enterprise" variety, might be uncomfortable, since I think we're "natural" adversaries. Then again, general consulting isn't a far cry from a professional services organization and many an enterprise is embracing *aaS.
I'm a system administratotion generalist, with a strong *n*x systems background. I take a "holistic" view of an environment, not perceiving any boundaries between systems, network, and databases. I enjoy doing it all.
MK408: From reading your blog posts, you clearly understand storage better than most vendor SA's I deal with... why don't you use your profile wall to describe your skills and the type of position you are looking for and whether or not you'll relocate. While you may want to continue on as an end-user, consider that vendors like to hire SA's that have real world experience.
Thanks. I'll take that advice. I'm starting to whip up a "functional" resume, which will have a superset of such information. In the meantime, a brief summary goes up.
